My son got the ram that he ordered yesterday, it was from his graduation money. He now has 2 gigs. As expected he can see a noticeable difference in his applications. He had 512 megs before this upgrade. He still wants an external hard drive for media storage. That will have to wait until he gets a job. Hopefully for him that will be soon. He has applied several places and did call backs but still no offers. You wouldn't think it would be this hard to get a part time job. Oh well. College starts soon.
His computer is a Dell Dimension 4600, Pentium 4-2.4Ghz with 2 gigs of PC 3200 400MHz DDR Ram, 8 USB 2.0 ports, two in the front and six in the back, two Hard Drives an 80 GB Western Digital and a 40 GB Seagate, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra video card with 128megs video memory, USB Wireless Optical Mouse and Keyboard, Dell 17in Flat panel LCD monitor, Video Camera, Wireless headphones, DVD player, CD/RW, and Creative SBS 5.1 560 surround sound speakers with Subwoofer connected to the internet through a cable modem.
My computer is pretty much the same as his with the exception of the memory. I am still sitting here with 512 megs. Maybe I should upgrade to 4 gigs. A little competition never hurt anyone. :)
So what are your computer spects?

Not being a computer person...most of those specs in the article mean very little to this puter illiterate person...but let me ask a question...with all that you described...couldn't he literally run IBM with that rig....?
It's not a bad computer, but there are better ones out there. All you have to do is look here.
